About Science MoJo

Science MoJo is an online media outlet specialising in science journalism and opinion. Julie Milland is the founder.

The word “mojo” means appeal but it also stands for Mobile Journalism, a new way that people are telling stories from the streets. Science MoJo aims to experiment with a mix of traditional and new ways of telling science stories.

Julie will avoid humour on Science MoJo as she has a sneaking suspicion that she is unfunny.

Boring Bio Bits

Julie has a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Melbourne and a 20-year career as a senior medical research scientist. She completed the Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing from RMIT University and is currently studying in the Master of Journalism course at University of Melbourne.

In addition to her science writing, Julie has also dabbled in creative fiction with work published in Sleepers Almanac, Best Australian Stories 2008 and broadcast on ABC Radio National. Her novel manuscript will probably never be completed.
